Effect of initial stress on the propagation of flexural waves in transversely isotropic magnetoelastic circular cylinder

The goal of this study is to investigate the effect of the initial stress and transverse isotropy on the dispersion relation of flexural wave in a conducting circular cylinder subject to the initial state of stress of the form of hydrostatic tension or compression. The free stress conditions on the inner and outer surfaces of the hollow circular cylinder were used to form the dispersion relation in terms of the wavelength, the cylinder radii, the initial stress, and the material constants. We observed that the initial stress has a great effect on the propagation of magnetoelastic flexural waves. This study may be helpful in connection with the propagation of seismic waves in the earth where an initial stress is present.
